Crisis services

 Access to crisis services is by referral only. Contact your doctor, your social worker of Info-Social (811, option 2), a professional will assess your situation with you and agree on a referral to our crisis services

Referrals made to our crisis service unit are received by a liaison worker. The crisis worker wil then quickly contact the person in crisis in order to assess safety and arrange a first meeting.

 During the first meeting, one of our evaluators will visit the person's environment in order to understand the current situation, estimate the risks of commiting suicide and / or homicide, identify the person's needs and direct them towards the most suitable services. This first intervention is normally done within 24 to 48 hours following the referral to our services. 

Crisis housing id offered to people requiring time away from their home or at high risk of committing suicide and/ or homicide, as well as to people who require intensive 24/7 support for the reorganization of certain aspects of their life. The length of stay is short, normally 5-6 days.

Crisis follow-up is offered to people who require increased support from a psychosocial worker. It aims to stabilize the risk factors linked to the crisis situation and to increase the protective factors. The intervention is of short duration, for a maximum of 6 to 7 weeks, and takes place mainly in the person's surroundings. 

An intensive follow-up can be offered to people at high risk of suicidal act, as reffered to by a doctor or psychiatrist from the hospitals serving the territory. It aims to reduce the risk factors of suicide, to increase the presence of protective factors and to connect the person with a network of professionals.
